Weekly Report (13 August 2019)

It will be another short report this week, due to the on going treatment of my Myasthenia Gravis.

My week started on Tuesday 6th Aug, with the first session of Apheresis at the hematology department of the Ottawa General Hospital, followed by further appointments on Thursday 8th Aug  and Tuesday 13th Aug.

In between all that I did manage to get to a a couple of events.

On Friday 9th Aug, I had an early morning phone call from my buddy, Ron Morin, the former owner of the Cornwall Motor Speedway, and now there in the position  of ‘Track Prep’ guy.

He was getting the place ready for a special corporate event that was taking place that morning. The “Get Dirty With Kenny Tour” was in town and Ron was giving me the heads up for some photo ops.

 

Renowned Dirt  and NASCAR racer Kenny Schrader was there, giving a group of specially invited guests, the experience of solo driving one of his race cars, and getting a ride in the two seater.

I was there for the start and took a few pictures .

Unfortunately I left the track before the end of the event, and missed Ron doing a few laps, as well as Claudette Lavergne ( one of the present track owners) having a ride in the two seater.

I’d taken pics of Kenny on a number of occasions in the past at such places like the Dirt track at Charlotte NC and the Virginia Motor Speedway , so it was nice to get the opportunity once again.

I once again took a night off from racing on Saturday, deciding to take things easy during my treatment.

On Sunday night I was back again at mylocal  Cornwall Motor Speedway for a show where  Late Models replaced the Pro Stocks on the program.

I was still taking things at a slower pace, so decided before I even got there, that I’d leave once the Modifieds were done.

I’m not a big fan of the local Late Model scene, but these guys put on a pretty good show.

Winner was Steve Baldwin.

The Modified feature was next, and one interesting aspect of this,  was the return of Stephane Lafrance in the # 87 car.

As for the race, it was a great joy to see my good friend Corey Wheeler take the checkers in this.

I believe it was his first Feature win of 2019

After I got my Victory Lane pictures, Ron Morin whisked me back to my car on his golf kart, and I was on my way home.

In my abssence, it was Moise Page in the # 66 that took the Sportsman Feature.

Monday was a day of rest around the home preparing for my third session of Apheresis in Ottawa on Tuesday.
