Odds and Ends (13/14 Nov 2010)

RICK @ the RACES

13/14 November

After last weeks grand finale to my 2010 dirt racing year at the Charlotte Speedway in North Carolina, this week ( and I guess, like the coming weeks) was a quiet one. There were a handful of dirt races still taking place but I considered them too far and decided to call it a day for this year.
Instead , I was back to my roots this past weekend , glued to the TV watching the climax of the F1 Grand Prix season from Abu Dhabi where 23 year old Sebastian Vettel made history by becoming the youngest World Champion in the highest level of auto raing. Congrats to him and the Red Bull Team.

Before moving to North America in 1994, like most people around the world, I considered F1 Grand Prix racing to be the pinnacle of Auto Racing. Of course things are different over here in Canada and the USA where NASCAR rules the roost.

The following and coverage for ‘Big Time’ oval track stock car racing, far out ways the single seater road course racing of the Grand Prix cars. There is no doubt that NASCAR is the preference of most North Americans, but I still have a big love of the worlds elite and still try to follow it the best I can.

I’m often asked if there is any one race track that I’d like to visit, and my answer is always the same, number one on my wish list is Monte Carlo for the Monaco Grand Prix. I’ve visited Monaco once for a vacation, but have never seen the race. One day maybe, when my lottery numbers come up !
