Nothing Doing (14/15 Nov 2009)

RICK @ the RACESĀ  (14/15 Nov 2009)

For the first time in many months, I’ve had a weekend free from auto racing events or functions. Originally I’d been thinking of going to one of the few racing events that were still going on in the North East. Albany Saratoga Speedway in Malta NY had an Enduro planned, and Penn Cann Speedway in PA had a SPORTSMAN show, but the most appealing for me was the Dirt Modified show at the Georgetown Speedway in Delaware. As well as being a quality racing, it would also of been a new track for me. By the time the weekend came by, both Malta and Georgetown had been canceled, which left just Penn Can. The weather didn’t look too promising so I decided to give it a miss.

Meanwhile in Vernon NY the North Eastern DIRTCAR ANNUAL BANQUET and AWARDS were taking place. I’ve never been to this function, as I find it hard to justify traveling over three hours for a banquet. I feel that in view of the high percentage of Canadian tracks on the DIRTCAR Northeast’s books, the location should be nearer to the border. I understand that a few years ago, ‘before my time’ it used to be held in Alexandria Bay NY , in the 1000 Islands. This seams a more logical place to hold it.

In my absence Brett Hearn was presented with the Mr DIRT award for Big Block Modifieds, Dale Planck for the 358’s, Chris Raabe for SPORTSMAN and Pete Stefanski for the Pro Stocks.
