ANOTHER BUSY ONE ( 28th of May 2024 BLOG)

Another Busy One  (28th May 2024)

Once again,  and just like last week, I had four events in four days.

In fact,  have so much going on right now  I’ll have to make this report a little bit shorter , and just  dwell briefly on the main divisions.

My week began on the 23rd of May with another Thursday night trip to  the Airborne Park Speedway , Plattsburgh NY .

The same plan as  last week ,  and I joined Don Simpson in his Chev Cruise.

It was another dry and sunny evening for a regular program of races.

The feature winners in the main divisions were .

Felix Roy in the Modifieds.

and in the Sportsman it was Fire Swamp

Friday 24th of May.

It was yet another nice day , so I drove down to the Can Am Speedway, at Lafargeville, NY.

Once again , my preference , and headline divisions were the 358 Modifieds and Sportsman.

The Modified winner was Lance Willix, who needed to fend off a last lap challenge from Billy Dunn.

Saturday 25th May.

I was at my local Mohawk International Raceway, just across the International Bridge from my home in Cornwall, Ontario.

After a slightly later start due to light drizzle, the annual Memorial Cup ,  got underway.

There were three headline divisions , 358 Mods, Sportsman and Pro Stocks .

The Modified features were twin 20 lappers.

The first was won by Carey Terrance.

The second , gave a career first win to Preston Forbes.

This wasn’t a surprise, he had been running well for the past few weeks, and I knew it would only be a matter of time before it happened .

The Sportsman feature was a memorable one for the Gauvreau family.

Cedric beat his father Eric,  who was driving the spare car,  to take the checkers. Eric is no stranger to the dirt tracks, he was a regular Modified competitor a few years back, and even raced on the defunct  ‘Moody Mile’ at Syracuse.

The Pro Stock feature provided a win for Dakota Sharp.

Sunday 26th May.

It was the turn of my other local track, the Cornwall Motor Speedway.

The program consisted of six divisions , and once again, the Modifieds and Sportsman were the headliners.

In the Modifieds , local driver Gilles Godard took the  early lead in the feature,  before young Jackson Gill got passed on the outside , and raced ahead to the checkers.

This was his second consecutive win , after he took the honors at the previous weeks opening night.

The Sportsman feature gave Cedric Gauvreau his second win in two days.

Well, that concluded my latest string of four events in four days .

I’m not sure how the next week or two  will work out, as my plans have had to be hastily altered.

Lets see how things transpire
