4 Feb  –   Can Am Speedway, Lafargeville NY (Winter Enduro)

On Saturday morning I took off from my home in Cornwall, Ontario on a relaxing drive to the Can Am Speedway at Lafargeville NY, for their postponed New Years Day ‘Hang Over’ Enduro. Poor track conditions on January 1 , forced the organizers to delay the event by a month. A recent accumulation of snow, followed by an extreme cold spell meant things looked good for this weekend.

The racing was scheduled to start at  1-00 pm and I arrived about an hour before. The first person I met up with was track manager Chip Burdick who was at the pit gate enthusiastically helping with the ‘sign in’ as the drivers arrived. As start time approached there were 30 entrants for the two forty lap races.02072012d

I have to give credit to the Can Am team, for the free ‘hot chocolate’ that was available, for anyone that wanted it.

When I attended the Winter Enduro two years ago, it had been held on the regular half mile oval, but this year it was held on a road course. It was about the same length an utilized much of the infield. This was great news for me, because it meant I would gain a ‘new track’ on my TRACKCHASER totals. According to the TRACKCHASER rules, a configuration such as a road course would count as a different track. The decision by the track management to run this style of race was a good one , as it gave the fans a lot more excitement.02072012h 02072012k

Just before 1-00 pm , I joined my friend, track photographer Rebecca Eisele out in the middle to capture the action.

The weather had been bright and sunny , not too cold , and an enjoyable day to get my racing fix.

The Dirt Road Course at the Can Am Speedway NY , became TRACK # 198 in my TRACKCHASING totals
