Danny’s 100th at the B.O.S  (8th June 2023 , BLOG)

Well it was another busy week for yours truly,  which begins on Friday 2nd June, with my regular trip to the Mohawk International Raceway NY .

We were still undergoing a mini-heat wave,  but the weather was about to change. I crossed the International border early enough to have an ice cream on Massena Beach , before heading to the track.

As I headed towards the track, dark black clouds were hovering , and things looked set for a big down-pour.

Soon after this,  I heard via social media that it was raining just across the river in Cornwall,  and also the nearby Ca Am Speedway at Lafargeville had cancelled.

Some how the Mohawk International Raceway dodged the bullet , as the dark clouds circled , and delivered no rain.

It was a regular show, and because of the weather threat , the program moved along quickly.

The cancelation at Can Am was made early enough for the car count at the MIR to benefit.

The first feature race was for the Mini Stocks and this was won by Curtis Smith.

The Rookie Sportsman feature followed this.

This  gave another win for former Mod Lite driver Kevin Foster.

The headline event of the night was next, the 30 lap feature for the 358 Modifieds.

Carey Terrance and Chris Raabe set the early pace for this, until Terrance had to retire with smoke bellowing from his motor.

For the rest of the race Raabe fought off a strong challenge from Tim Fuller to collect his second consecutive feature win at the MIR.

The Sportsman feature was up next.

This looked like it was going to be Thomas Cook win, but a couple of late cautions allowed Nick Heywood to close the gap and  get passed for the victory.

The final feature of the night was for the Pro Stocks.

This provided another win for Sid Harmer Jr.  For me, the high-light of the race, was the brother and sister duel of Alex and Natacha Lebrun. A great bit of sibling rivalry. 

Well we managed to beat the rain even after the long red and yellow flag delays.

We were all done by 10-30pm.

On Saturday the 3rd of June, I was at the Brockville Ontario Speedway.  

It was good to see my good friend Ron Morin parked up on the middle, following his recent health issues.

His black Chevy truck has been a familiar fixture on the center for many years.

The program consisted of Modifieds, Sportsman, Rookie Sportsman , Sprint Cars and Street Stocks.

The first of the features , was for the Street Stocks.

This was won by Dakota Sharp.

Next up was the main event of the night, the 30 lap Feature for the 358 Modifieds.

Ryan Arbuthnot dominated this one until the final laps when Danny O’Brien came through to grab the win.

History was made in this race.

It was Danny’s 100th career win at the B.O.S .

The Sprint Car feature was next, and programed before the Sportsman, so I had no escape 🙂 

My good friend Lee Ladouceur was the winner of this one.

The Sportsman Feature followed , where the tracks two top guys were fighting it out for the spoils.

At the end of the race, it was Shane Pecore  # 0 ahead of Bobby Herrington # 88. 

To end the night, it was the turn of the Rookie Sportsman for their feature.

Getting his first win, after moving up from the Mini Stocks,  it was Cornwall’s Skylar Ladouceur.

The racing was all done before 10-00 pm and I was back home before midnight.

Sunday morning I was watching the F1 Grand Prix on TV.

It was another run away win for Verstappen driving the Red Bull , but it was refreshing to see Mercedes making a come back, with Hamilton and Russell taking second and third.

In the middle of the afternoon I headed over to the Cornwall Motor Speedway for a regular show of racing.

On my pit walk-about , I came across Marc Therrien who was driving the # 67 Brent Lozo, Sportsman.

Marc a former Pro Stock and Modified driver, has been absent from the tracks for about five years.

With the newly instigated 11-00 pm curfew now in place, things got going on time and we had no unnecessary delays.

I took the heat race pictures from the pit tower.

After the intermission I moved to the center for the Feature Races and to catch up on social media.

First feature race was for the Pro Stocks

This one was won by Jocelyn Roy .

The Sportsman feature followed .

This was won by William Racine.

The Modified feature ran next and Carey Terrance looked to have it in the bag , until a late pass by Tristan Draper, gave the Kingston , Ontario , native the chance to grab the checkers.

The Rookie Sportsman came next, and it was New York,  Pro Stock pilot Yan Bressett who took this one.

Only a week or two ago , I was taking his picture in Victory Lane following a win at the Mohawk International Raceway.

The final race of the night was for the Mini-Stock feature.

Once again it was Cornwall’s Pierre Picard who took the checkers, holding off a late challenge from his buddy, James Clark.

Everything was over by 9-30 pm .

Oh !   I just love these early finishes. Its so nice to be done at a sensible time.

Monday morning I spent picture editing and catching up on things, before taking an early evening  drive in the T Bird , to the Waterfront Cruise In, at Morrisburg. 

Tuesday nights Karting events at Cornwall were cancelled due to the forecasted rain and the wet weather also caused me to miss Wednesday nights Cornwall Olde Car Club Meet .
